Fishmongers at James Town in the Greater Accra region have expressed how unhappy they are concerning low sales during this COVID 19 pandemic.
Speaking in an interview with Dofopa fm, Mr.Lamptey, who happens to be a Fisherman mentioned that, the kind of fishes they are expecting since their festival ” Homowo” is approaching, is not encouraging.
Then again, he said due to the fear of people contracting the virus, coming to the shores to purchase the fish is worrying.
He stressed on the fact that, the fear of people not coming is as a result of the difficulties involved when social distancing comes to play.
” We can’t practice social distancing at the shore and it is also contributing to the spread of the virus” He said.
Maame Ago who sells fish at the shore also mentioned that, sales are extremely bad of late which is making living very difficult for them and their families.
They are therefore calling on the government to help them establish businesses that can help them support themselves and their families.
