The voters registration which is been conducted across the whole country of Ghana is in a way causing people to overlook the COVID-19 protocols that have been put in place.
The electoral commission has therefore introduced what it calls ” Queue Management System” at all registration centers in the Greater Accra region to curb overcrowding.
The management system is done in such a way that 150 applicants who arrives at the registration centers are provided with ” number chits” according to EC.
75 people will be served from morning to afternoon, while the remaining 75 will be asked to go home and return later in the afternoon when the first 75 people have been served.
The EC wishes to reduce the long queues and ensure that the social distancing protocols area obeyed at every pooling station.
” The commission is particular about helping to calm the spreed of the virus and also to continue to review and improve the processes so as to ensure that citizens register in a safe and secure environment” a statement from the EC.
This shows that the ongoing exercise will help improve the social distancing protocols and reduce the spread of the virus.
